Great news. The undrafted Slovak signed a rookie contract with Vegas – NHL – Hockey

Slovak hockey player Viliam Kmec signed a three-year rookie contract with the Vegas Golden Knights club.

The 20-year-old defender convinced the club’s management at the pre-season camp, which he entered despite not being drafted. He played the past three seasons in the Canadian junior WHL competition.

The signing of the contract was announced by general manager Kelly McCrimmon on the club’s website. Vegas invited Kmec to a development camp for young players, where he finally won his first professional contract.

During the past 2023/2024 season, he played a total of 73 games for the Prince George Cougars in the WHL, in which he recorded 12 goals, 31 assists, 42 penalty minutes and 44 plus points.

The hockey player from Košice played a total of 207 duels in the WHL with a record of 21+69.

He represented Slovakia at three under-20 World Cups. At the recent Vegas Golden Knights club rookie tournament, he helped his team to victory when he achieved a 1+2 record in three games.

In addition to Kmec, Slovakian forward Jakub Demek also has a three-year rookie contract with Vegas, which he signed in 2023.
