GTA VI raises expectations, and this could be a problem

Taking advantage of The Golden Joystick Awards Rockstar has once again given another boost to the expectations we have around GTA VI, saying that this game will have things that “They will make our heads explode”. The developer has not specified anything, so we do not know what it refers to, and we will have to wait many months to have at least a solid clue, since its launch will not occur until the end of 2025.

It’s good that Rockstar wants to generate excitement with GTA VI, it’s logical because in the end this is their big project for the current generation of consoles, but these kinds of things are a double edged sword because they can raise expectations to levels that are impossible to meet. If this happens it could end up becoming a disappointment even if it’s not a bad game.

The first GTA VI trailer let us see many technical details that mark an important evolution compared to GTA V, but without a doubt the most notable are the increase in the number of NPCs, the higher quality of them and increasing the level of detail and modeling of both NPCs and scenarios.

I think that one of the most important advances that Rockstar refers to is going to go precisely there, due to the improvement in quality and quantity of the NPCs. These not only have more realistic modeling and animations, but they may also offer a greater degree of interaction than the NPCs of GTA V.

It is interesting to bring up Red Dead Redemption 2 to better understand all this. If Rockstar was able to create NPCs with that level of intelligence and that ability to interact on previous generation consoles, which were limited to an AMD Jaguar CPU, imagine what he could have done with the Zen 2 CPU of current generation consoles. I’m very curious.

The PC version of GTA VI has not yet been confirmed, but Take-Two, the publisher of GTA VI, said that the PC is a key platform in its strategy, so we can expect that version to end up being announced shortly after the release of the console version. Your arrival should occur between six months and a year after that.

At The Golden Joystick Awards GTA VI took the award for the most anticipated game.
