Gyeonggi Province activated emergency level 3 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for the first time in 12 years since 2012 due to record-breaking heavy snow.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it would raise the emergency response level to level 3 as of 10 p.m. on the 27th to minimize damage from heavy snow. In emergency level 3, the number of workers will be expanded from 25 in level 2 to 32. 1,376 people from 31 cities and counties are responding to the situation.
Currently, a heavy snow warning has been issued throughout 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. Heavy snow warnings were issued for 20 cities and counties, including Yangpyeong, Gwangju, Suwon, Yongin, Ansan, Gunpo, Uiwang, Gwangmyeong, Bucheon, Gwacheon, Siheung, Anyang, Seongnam, Pyeongtaek, Hanam, Anseong, Osan, Hwaseong, Icheon, and Yeoju, and the rest. Heavy snow warnings were in effect for 11 cities and counties. A heavy snow warning is issued when more than 20 cm of snow is predicted to accumulate in 24 hours, and a heavy snow warning is issued when more than 5 cm of snow is predicted to accumulate.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that up to 25 cm of snow would fall in parts of southern Gyeonggi and northern Gyeonggi Province by the morning of the 28th, and up to 10 cm or more in Seoul.
