Gyeonggi Seongnam City, emergency preparedness in response to ‘Yatap Station weapon rampage’ warning post |

Strengthening emergency contact network maintenance and intensive patrols
Medical staff, ambulance, and other response teams are on standby

Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 22nd that it has entered an emergency preparedness posture after a post was recently made on an anonymous online community saying, “I will cause a weapon riot at Yatap Station on the Suin Bundang Line.”

Seongnam City held an emergency response meeting attended by relevant departments and police officials and decided to strengthen its response system, including maintaining an emergency contact network with relevant organizations, focusing patrols around Yatap Station, and intensive surveillance on closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs).

The administrative welfare center and police district in charge of Yatap Station will conduct joint emergency work and patrol the area around Yatap Station, focusing on multi-use facilities, until the emergency response state is lifted. Bundang-gu Public Health Center will form a response team with medical staff, ambulances, and administrative staff to prepare for emergency situations and stand by.

The writer of the post posted on an online anonymous community on the afternoon of the 18th of this month, “I will swing a weapon at my friends and acquaintances who live near Yatap Station at 6 PM on the 23rd.” When netizens left comments criticizing him, he responded, “I will also set it on fire.”

At around 4 PM on the 19th, while the police were patrolling, an additional post was made to the same online community saying, “The police car came too. They are really trying to find me. Look hard, it’s Yatap right now.”
