The Haapsalu Wasps played the first home game of the starting season – last Friday the University of Tartu/Estiko basketball team visited them.

The Wasps, who successfully finished last year’s season, played a step higher this year, i.e. in the Saku I league. In the opening game, they lost 92:59 to Reinar Hallik’s basketball school away from home. Now the Tartans also lost in overtime 77:89.

More than 150 fans had gathered in the stands of the Wiedemann sports building on Friday, and the Wasps started the game vigorously, taking a 14-9 lead.

The new wasps, i.e. Mattias Rausberg, Sten Egert Laub, Oskar Martin Kiviväli, Artur Kurvits and Julius Erik Kastein caught the eye in a way worthy of the club’s name.
