Halep, drastic decision: “I’m not a machine”

Simona Halep announced that she is postponing her return to the court due to a knee injury.

“Hello everybody! I wanted to give a little update on my health as I have been away from the field lately. It’s not the best news, but I wanted to share it with you. I have been struggling with a knee injury for several months. It’s an injury I’ve never had before and it’s been a difficult one to manage, the pain persists.

It was a very difficult time mentally and emotionally for me, and on top of that, the physical struggle certainly doesn’t help.

I decided to take the time to recover properly rather than train and play in pain. My instinct has always been to try to come back as soon as possible, but I’m not a machine, I’m a human being and I need time to recover from everything I’ve been through,” Simona Halep wrote on Instagram.

Simona Halep abandoned on May 15, for medical reasons, in the first round of the Trophee Clarins (WTA 125) tournament in Paris, endowed with total prizes of 100,000 euros, at the score of 7-5, 2-3 with the American McCartney Kessler.

Halep was defeated by Spain’s Paula Badosa, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, on March 20 in the first round of the WTA 1,000 tournament in Miami (Florida), in her comeback match on the circuit professional after the sanction in his doping case was reduced from four years to nine months.
