Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital announced on the 27th that it has been designated as a ‘2024 Southern Gyeonggi Regional Emergency Medical Center’ by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Base area emergency medical centers are operated with the purpose of efficiently distributing severe emergency patients and providing final treatment quickly. The Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluated the workforce composition and treatment capabilities among local emergency medical centers and designated a total of 23 regional emergency medical centers, including Hallym Daedong Tan Sacred Heart Hospital.
Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital Emergency Medical Center ranked first among regional emergency medical centers nationwide in the 2021 emergency medical institution evaluation. From the beginning, we have been operating a 24-hour specialist-centered medical treatment system, and to respond to new infectious diseases, we have a negative pressure isolation room and a patient classification system according to severity and conduct regular response training.
In addition, taking into account the regional characteristics of many nearby companies handling chemical substances, we are making every effort to respond to chemical accidents that could result in large-scale casualties. In 2020, hyperbaric oxygen treatment was introduced for the first time in the southern Gyeonggi region and is now being provided to patients suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, diving sickness, and burns.
Han Sung-woo, director of Hallym University Dong Elastic Heart Hospital, said, “With this designation as a regional emergency medical center, we will contribute to the development of local medical care and health promotion by providing prompt and high-quality treatment to seriously ill emergency patients in the southern Gyeonggi region.”
