Hamas announces that Israel has killed its leader in Lebanon after a night of attacks that reach the center of Beirut

The Islamist organization Hamas reported this Monday the death of its leader in Lebanon, commander Fatah Sharif Abu Al Amin, in another Israeli attack in the south of the Arab country in which, it claims, his wife, his son and his son were also killed. daughter-in-law.

“Commander Fatah Sharif died today at dawn after a terrorist and criminal assassination operation in an airstrike that targeted his entire family in their home in the Al Bass refugee camp, southern Lebanon,” they note in a statement.

This is not the only Israeli attack that has hit Lebanon this Monday. An Israeli bombing targeted a residential building in the Cola neighborhood of Beirut early Monday morning, in the first air attack against the Lebanese capital since the start of hostilities between the Shiite group Hezbollah and Israel almost a year ago.

The bombing hit a building in this predominantly Sunni Muslim neighborhood of the Lebanese capital, which until now had not been the target of Israel’s massive airstrike campaign, which has targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut on different occasions. like Dahye, a Hezbollah stronghold.

Lebanese media indicate that the attack was directed against alleged members of the Lebanese Sunni group Jamaa al Islamiya, an ally of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas and accused by Israel of participating in the outbreak of violence against its Army from southern Lebanon. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine later confirmed the death of three of its leaders in this attack.

In a statement, the Palestinian faction said the three victims are: Muhammad Abdul Aal, a member of the Front’s political bureau and head of the military security department; Imad Awda, member of the Front’s military department and its military commander in Lebanon; and leader Abdul Rahman Abdul Aal.

Witnesses consulted by local media stated that a loud explosion was heard in the Cola neighborhood, where a column of smoke rose visible from other areas of the capital.

The Israeli forces have not yet commented on the action, which according to the local press has caused deaths and has set off all the alarms at a time when the country is still holding its breath after the death of the leader of Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, in a Israeli bombing carried out on Friday in Dahye.

Until now, the capital of Lebanon had not been in the range of action of Israel, which did bomb the southern suburbs of Beirut on several occasions in the last year.

Israel continued this Sunday with its intense bombing campaign that began a week ago against the main strongholds of Hezbollah in the south and east of Lebanon, but also in Dahye and other areas further north of the capital that until recently had not been a target of Israeli attacks.

On Sunday alone, at least 105 people died in an intense day of Israeli bombing, which in just over a week has left more than a thousand dead and more than 6,000 injured, according to the Lebanese Government.

This has caused around a million people to leave their homes in recent days, according to the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, who on Sunday recalled that his Government has been calling for a truce in Gaza and Lebanon for “seven years.” eight months.”
