Dong-hoon Han, representative of the People Power Party, said on the 23rd that students at Dongduk Women’s University held an occupation protest over the discussion of converting to co-education, saying, “The instigators of the violence must be held accountable for the property damage that occurred.”

On this day, Representative Han wrote on his Facebook page, “Whether we convert to coeducational school or not, violence cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”

Representative Han pointed out, “It cannot be justified to destroy school facilities and make a mess of job fairs, causing damage to school property and depriving others of valuable opportunities.” He also said, “It is natural common sense as a member of the community.”

Representative Han emphasized, “It must be handled according to principles to prevent recurrence.”

Previously, students at Dongduk Women’s University protested against the university’s discussion of converting to co-education, and a sit-in protest continues on campus. Although the sit-in protests have partially come to an end, controversy has arisen over whether the school is responsible for the damage caused by the sit-in protests. Dongduk Women’s University announced that the damage amounted to up to 5.4 billion won.
