Hanane El Hamraoui, one of the drivers of the industrialization of HDF fuel cells

When you go to an engineering school in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), your future may seem clear by landing a job in aeronautics. Hanane El Hamraoui refused this predestination. The one who has been, since May 2024, the deputy general director of Hydrogène de France (HDF) moved, during her last year of training at Insa, towards a completely new course of specialization in renewable energies.

«At the beginning of the 2010s, I really became aware of environmental issues and I wanted, through my work, to contribute to something much bigger than myself.“, remembers the 34-year-old young woman. Upon leaving school in 2013, she joined Exosun, specializing in solar monitoring systems for photovoltaic plants.

In 2018, she left for HDF, a company of 150 employees located in Blanquefort (Gironde), where she rose through the ranks: project manager, industrial director, director of EMEA activities, before becoming deputy general director, while retaining the position as industrial director. “It’s a very operational position, I build the team that develops fuel cells and sells them. I take care of industrial strategy, strategic partnerships, financing… It’s both comprehensive and very enriching, especially in a field where everything is still to be built », assures Hanane El Hamraoui.

Who finds the desired meaning in his work: “aseeing a social and economic impact, by recreating industrial jobs and helping to preserve the climate, it’s very rewarding.»
