Hanlim Pharmaceutical founder Kim Jae-yoon passes away

(Health Korea News / Do-i Lim) Chairman Kim Jae-yoon (Peter), founder of Hanlim Pharmaceutical, who contributed greatly to the development of the Korean pharmaceutical industry, passed away on the 20th at the age of 89.

Chairman Kim Jae-yoon, born in Seoul in 1935, graduated from Seonrin Commercial High School in 1955 and the Department of Economics at Kookje University (now Seogyeong University) in 1963. He took his first steps as a businessman by establishing Hanlim Trading Company in 1974. He then entered the pharmaceutical industry in 1980 by establishing Hanlim Pharmaceutical Industrial Company. In 1989, he established Hanlim Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and assumed the position of CEO.

Chairman Kim Jae-yoon has left a significant mark on the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry by serving as a director of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharmaceutical Association, a director of the Korea Pharmaceutical Cooperative, and a director of the Korea Federation of SMEs. He has also been active in the religious community, serving as a member of the Catholic Economic Association’s Steering Committee and Vice Chairman, and as an advisory member.

He received the Presidential Industrial Service Medal in 1999, the Presidential Civil Service Medal in 2004, and the Proud Catholic Economic Person Award in 2007.

The funeral home has been set up in room 30 of the Seoul Asan Medical Center funeral home, and the funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The funeral mass will be held at 8:00 a.m. on the same day at the Seoul Asan Medical Center funeral home.

The deceased is scheduled to be buried at Seonsan Cemetery, San 59, Neungpyeong-dong, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

His surviving family members include his wife, Won Mi-ja (Rosa), his son, Jeong Jin, and his daughters, So-young and So-jeong.

On the 21st, Hanlim Pharmaceutical announced, “In accordance with the wishes of the deceased and the bereaved family, we have decided not to accept condolences or flowers.”
