Hanwha Robotics announced on the 1st that it has appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jeong Byeong-chan as its new CEO.
Mr. Jeong Shin-im graduated from Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Afterwards, he worked as the head of the robotics technology team in Hanwha’s machinery and Momentum divisions, and is currently in charge of the technology division at Hanwha Robotics.
In particular, the new CEO, Jeong, is leading the overall development of new technologies. He is also leading the development of the new collaborative robot model HCR-10L, which is scheduled to be released this year.
A Hanwha Robotics official said, “Based on our deep understanding of the robot industry and diverse field experience, we expect to accelerate the development of new technologies and global sales that will lead the future market.”
Hanwha Robotics plans to utilize Hanwha’s advanced robotics technology, including collaborative robots, in various fields from manufacturing to service, with the new CEO at the center. In particular, it is accelerating the development of robot technology and applications related to food tech, which has recently been attracting attention.
A Hanwha Robotics official said, “The use of robotics technology in the food and beverage industry has been increasing noticeably recently. Together with Hanwha Foodtech, we will strive to develop differentiated technologies that can lead the domestic and global food tech markets.”
CEO Jong-Hwi Seo, who has been leading Hanwha Robotics, will take on the role of technology advisor and contribute to the development of new technologies and network expansion.
