Harris denies childless claims, talks ‘modern family’

Harris said the Arkansas governor’s views on family are outdated and discussed her own “modern family,” which includes her husband, Doug Emhoff, and his two children from his first marriage, Cole and Ella.

In September, during a rally she moderated for Republican Donald Trump in Michigan, Sanders said her children keep her “humble,” while Harris “has nothing to keep her humble.”

Harris responded to Sanders on the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast, saying, “I don’t think he understands that there are a lot of women out there who, for one, don’t aspire to be humble.” “Two, a lot of women here who have a lot of love in their lives, family in their lives, and kids in their lives.”

“And I think it’s really important for women to lift each other up.”

Harris also said family comes in many forms.

“We have our family by blood and then we have our family by love, and I have both and I consider that a true blessing,” she said. “And I have two beautiful children, Cole and Ella, who call me Momala. We have a very modern family. My husband’s ex-wife is a friend of mine.”

The vice president also hit back at Trump’s vice president, JD Vance, after he previously complained that he didn’t want the country to be run by “childless cat ladies.”

“I think it’s mean and malicious,” Harris said.

The governor’s office and Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Harris joined the podcast, hosted by Alex Cooper, for a discussion about reproductive rights. The appearance was part of a larger media effort by Harris, who is trying to build support in the final 30 days of the campaign against Trump.
