Vice President Kamala Harris criticized former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, calling him “more and more insane.” At the same time, she called Trump’s statements about Adolf Hitler, which were reported by the former head of the ex-president’s office, as “incredibly dangerous”.
Criticism from the Democratic candidate came at a time when there are only 13 days left until the US presidential election. Harris spoke outside her residence in Washington after Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, published information about the ex-president’s admiration for the Nazi dictator and his army.
“It’s really disturbing and incredibly dangerous that Donald Trump is invoking Adolf Hitler, the man who is responsible for the deaths of six million Jews and hundreds of thousands of Americans,” Harris said. “All of this is proof of who Donald Trump really is,” she emphasized.
According to Kelly, the Republican candidate falls under the definition of a “fascist”, writes AFP. Trump reportedly remarked that “Hitler did a lot of good things” and that he wanted loyal “generals like Hitler” instead of the US military.
Trump also recently complained again about the existence of an “enemy within”. Harris responded by saying that “anyone who refused to kneel or dared to criticize him would qualify as an internal enemy in his mind. Judges, journalists, or impartial election officials.”
Therefore, Harris warned that if Trump was elected, anyone who is not loyal to him could be punished, AP reports. “So the bottom line is this, we know what Donald Trump wants. He wants uncontrolled power,” the vice president added.
