Convenors of anti-discrimination student movement Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam’s convoy was hit by a truck. One of the vehicles in the fleet was involved in an accident. This causes the front part of the car to twist. However, all are safe as they were in another vehicle at the time of the accident.
The accident happened on Wednesday (27th November) around 7:30 pm. The accident took place at the Haji road junction of Chunti Union on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on the way back after visiting the grave of advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who was killed in Chittagong. However, two coordinators are unharmed in this incident.
Then Talat Mahmud Rafi, the Chittagong coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, wrote in a personal Facebook post,
We have security risks. May Allah protect us. On the way back from visiting the grave of Martyr Advocate Saiful Islam Arif Bhai, we were hit by a truck at approximately 7:30 PM.
Assistant Deputy Inspector (ASI) in charge of Lohagara police station. Alim confirmed the accident to Daily Azadi. He said that besides arresting the truck driver involved in the incident, the truck has been seized. Legal proceedings are ongoing on the matter.
