Before the release of the iPhone 16 this Friday, September 20, iOS 18 has arrived worldwide: the end of the beta released last June. So before installing the update, here’s how to back up your iPhone to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

What’s new with iOS 18?

iOS 18 is arriving on the French market without Apple Intelligence, due to European regulations that Apple cannot deal with. But there are still some very practical new features on the program.

Now, the home screen is fully customizable: you can place the icons wherever you want and even apply a color tint or even a dark mode to them. Messages finally supports RCS, which has been available on Android for a long time: enough to improve communication between smartphones with different systems.

Other new features include the ability to lock apps with Fade ID or Touch ID to add an extra layer of protection. For added security, iOS 18 introduces a “ Passwords » which is a password manager, quite simply.

Last thing: the Control Center has been completely redesigned. You can rearrange the buttons, resize them, and even create multiple pages with the controls. In short, iOS 18 is mostly about more customization.

Which iPhones are compatible?

All models with the A12 Bionic chip or newer can upgrade to iOS 18. Here’s the full list:
