Have you played today’s popcorn-themed Google Doodle yet? It’s online multiplayer!

Tech giant Google launched a new interactive popcorn-themed Doodle on September 25, marking what is considered the Popcorn Day (no, we didn’t even know it existed). Well, the game multiplayer online allows up to 59 players to challenge each other simultaneously, setting a survival record.

The Doodle thus transforms the Google homepage into a virtual battlefield where players control kernels of corn that must avoid turning into popcorn. The goal is to remain the last “raw” grain in playdodging objects such as pieces of butter and salt thrown by opponents. Each character has a special power to choose from: healing, shielding, or re-throwing objects.

The choice of date is not accidental: September 25, 2020 entered the Guinness Book of Records the largest popcorn machine ever made. Google took the opportunity to create a playful and social experience around this popular snack, whose history dates back to the 16th century.

The game is accessible both from PC and mobile devices directly from the Google homepage or via a dedicated link. Compared to other interactive Doodles of the past, this one stands out for its immediacy and fun, ideal for short breaks.

In addition to celebrating the pop culture of popcorn, the Doodle once again demonstrates Google’s ability to transform its logo into engaging experiences, creatively combining entertainment and technology.
