Bluff sms in an attempt to steal card information

This summer there was a proliferation of text messages and emails stating that the recipient had to update their payment method with the Swedish Transport Agency. The message included a link that led to a scam site that resembled the Swedish Transport Agency’s website.

“Unfortunately, we at the Swedish Transport Agency are repeatedly used for various types of attempts where you want to access citizens’ payment information,” wrote Mikael Anderssonpress manager at the Swedish Transport Agency, to News24 when.

Then the parking ticket may be a scam

Now the scams have a new content. These are emails claiming that the recipient has received a parking fine that must be paid.

– There are a lot of people who have contacted us about these scam emails, writes Mikael Andersson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Agency in an email to Nyheter24.

This is how you check if you actually have a parking fine

How do you then ensure that it is actually a parking fine and not a scam?

All parking fines are collected on the Swedish Transport Agency’s website. There you can use the e-service “Vehicle debts” to find out if you have any unpaid parking fines.
