Have you thought about how much yard renovation costs? A tidy sum sank into the yard of Jenni’s family’s semi-detached house, but it was finished quickly

It turned out to be a small yard of a semi-detached house Jenni Mäkelän difficult for the family to plan. The wishes included staying, lounging, cooking and eating with family and friends. The rock-lined yard was difficult in shape.

“We only wanted to keep the wonderful lilacs in the yard and the planting pool and emphasize the rock,” says Jenni.

A yard planner was hired to help Laura Talowho, after seeing the plan Jenni made, decided with her husband to give up on carrying out the renovation themselves.

“A large amount of soil alone had to be taken and brought to the backyard,” says Jenni.

The backyard of the semi-detached house used to consist of a terrace area and a lawn. Both were in poor condition, and especially the weedy lawn could not withstand use and was untidy. In the renovation, we wanted to get all the joy out of the yard space. At the same time, the access to the yard from the side of the house and the front yard were renewed. The renovation, which was done at the contract price, was successful during the cancellation period during the same summer and lasted three weeks. The end result exceeded the family’s expectations.

“We are particularly satisfied with the shape of the terrace, which follows the rock. It creates a finished impression. We only had to reduce the height of the stone wall at the edge of the plot, so that the total price dropped a little. We invested in the success of the whole.”

The hope is to add a screen to the backyard for warm summer movie nights.

The renovation resulted in an easy-to-maintain garden, where you can bake pizza and dine and read a book in the shade. The entire area is a terrace, which was easy to furnish according to the wishes of the family. The lighting extends the use time of the yard in autumn. Shrubs and perennials were chosen as plants for the yard, which require little maintenance.
