He dominated the US Open final and went to kiss his Russian girlfriend after the win. Jealous Kyrgios humiliated her with a sexist insult – Tennis

It’s been hot around him in recent weeks. In mid-August, it was revealed that he had twice tested positive for an anabolic steroid in March, but he ultimately avoided suspension, as, according to an independent tribunal, he did not use the banned substance intentionally. Several of his colleagues from the tennis industry called him a doping cheat.

However, Jannik Sinner was able to ignore the side effects, forgot about the controversy of the past days and showed at the US Open that she is deservedly world number one.

In yesterday’s final in New York, after a dominant performance, he defeated the local Taylor Fritz 6:3, 6:4, 7:5, and after his triumph at the Australian Open in January, he won his second Grand Slam of the season.

He succeeded in a unique feat, when only Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic were able to win both Grand Slam tournaments on hard surfaces in one season in this millennium.

Sinner took the winning trophy from the hands of the American legend Andre Agassi and dedicated the triumph to his sick aunt.

“This title means a lot to me, I have had a turbulent period. However, I love tennis and I do everything to be able to play for titles on the biggest courts in the world. I dedicate this title to my aunt, who is not feeling well, I don’t know how long she will be here with us,” said the Italian in an interview on the court.

Even before that, he “thanked” another woman for her support – his girlfriend, Russian tennis player Anna Kalinska. They have been a couple for several months with a native of Moscow.

Kalinská supported him during the match from the stands, Sinner came to her after the final win and gave her a sweet kiss.

Their display of love was hard for Nick Kyrgios to watch. The controversial Australian, who interrupted his career and is currently an inactive player, watched the New York tournament as a co-commentator for ESPN.

After the information spread that Sinner had a positive doping test, he demanded a harsh punishment for the Italian. The day before the final, he also attacked Kalinská, with whom he had a brief affair in 2020.

When one of the fans “posted” a photo of them together on the social network, Kyrgios responded with a brief comment: “She’s only second serve.”

He was reacting to the fact that the Russian tennis player is no longer dating him, but Sinner. His words started a wave of criticism, several tennis commentators called him a sexist.

Leading American tennis journalists Ben Rothenberg and Jon Wertheim even called on ESPN bosses to pull the Australian off the air and fine him.

“Kyrgios has made several statements in which he trashes women’s tennis, insults female tennis players and women in general. I really wonder why ESPN hired him,” Rothenberg wrote.

“It was 2015 when Kyrgios made a disgusting comment about one player. At that time, his words angered her partner, coach and several female tennis players. However, he did not face the consequences for his behavior, the competent authorities described it as youthful imprudence. But now he’s 29 years old and he’s done it again,” Wertheim added.

Sinner did not respond to his words and probably will not. He and Kalinska make a happy couple and showed it in New York.

The ease in the relationship also helped the Italian to become the second youngest player in the so-called at the age of 23. open era, which dominated both the Australian Open and the US Open in one season. Only the legendary American Jimmy Connors was younger.

Sinner collected a very interesting sum for his win in New York – 3.6 million USD before taxes. He also takes 2,000 points to the ATP world ranking and in today’s edition he consolidated his position as a unit.
