He was trained through tutorials online, then he quickly acquired all the equipment needed to make false papers. Printing machine screen printing, cutting tools and much more were neatly set up in his garage.

An illegal business that ended because of a small detail

‘Mr Chong’ could have made his business prosper for many more years without a single detail. In October 2018, the Office for Combating Illegal Migrant Trafficking received a reporting from the security service of La Poste. A letter was intercepted and it contained a false identity card, this triggered an in-depth investigation. In addition, investigators receive valuable information from a informant. These lead them directly to ‘Mr Chong’.

Just over a year later, the police arrived at his home and search his garage. They discover all his forgery equipment there, but also 12,000 euros in cashcomputer equipment, a car and a scooter. This operation finally put an end to this production of false documents.

Police estimated that ‘Mr Chong’s’ loot could amount to between 300,000 euros and 1 million euros. However, the accused revised these figures downwards during his interrogation. At the Pontoise Criminal Court, the defendant did not contest the facts. He was finally judge this Thursday, September 12, 2024 for having manufactured and distributed these false documents via the Darknet.
