After a few turbulent months, in which he played for two formations in the second league of Saudi Arabia, Alexandru Albu (31 years old) decided to return to the Superliga, but not to Rapid.

According to the latest information, the experienced defensive midfielder clapped hands with the new group and the move is to be formalized in the first days of 2025.

Alexandru Albu, former player at Rapid Bucharest, left the Romanian Superliga in the summer of 2024, for free, when he chose to go to Saudi Arabia.

The experienced defensive midfielder initially played with Al-Hazem, from the second echelon, but he only got to tick off three matches in the team’s shirt. Then, in September 2024, he made the move to Al-Safa, also in the second league of Saudi football. For the latter, he played in a total of 12 games, in which he stood out with two decisive assists, among others. However, even this experience did not stop him, because according to the latest information, Albu is ready to part with Al-Safa.

Those from Golazo.ro announces that Alexandru Albu will return to the Romanian Superliga and has already reached an agreement with FC Botoșani.

According to the cited source, the midfielder has accepted all the conditions presented by the Moldovan club and will join the squad for the winter training.

Alexandru Albu does not find FC Botoșani in the best position, but with his experience he hopes to be able to help them avoid relegation. After 21 stages, the formation coached by Liviu Ciobotariu is in the penultimate place of the Superliga, with only 18 points collected. Only Gloria Buzău is lower in the ranking, with 16 points, while above FC Botoșani is local rival Poli Iași, with 22 points.

He recorded the most matches in the shirt of Concordia, 122, while for Rapid he made 103 appearances, in which he scored 12 goals and provided 6 decisive assists.

Alexandru Albu can also be proud of an appearance in the national team shirt, recorded on October 8, 2021, in a Germany – Romania 2-1 match, in the Qatar 2022 World Cup preliminaries.

According to Transfermarkt, Alexandru Albu’s market share is 600,000 euros.
