The 84-year-old driver who designed the car that fatally hit Manuel Pedro, 78, on Saturday, in Albergaria dos Doze, Pombal, will be charged with aggravated homicide and will appear in court this Monday for questioning. “It’s been a 30-year-old feud, he was coming after me and I ran over him with the car,” the suspect told people who approached him after the accident, which occurred in the square near his house, on Rua da Cartaria.
The accident was initially investigated by the GNR, but as evidence of a crime was found, it was passed to the Central Judicial Police, who arrested the suspect on Saturday night. Before the fatal accident, the two men were apparently involved in a fight, as there were traces of blood on the suspect’s face and on the victim’s car. Manuel Pedro lived with his wife and grandson in Cartaria.
