A man was about to miss his flight because of a confused self-driving taxi. The car circled several times around the destination while he was on board. He filmed the whole incident.
Mike Johns was on his way home from Scottsdale, Arizona last week when he got into a Waymo to head to a nearby airport. What happened next surprised the online environment.

The man says he was trapped inside the car as it spun around the parking lot. Not only was he unable to stop the car, but the customer service he was on the phone with during this time was unable to do anything.

The Waymo representative was finally able to get the car under control after several minutes, allowing him to arrive at the airport just in time to catch his flight back to Los Angeles. He says the lack of empathy from the representative who tried to help him, and the fact that he wasn’t sure if he was talking to a human or a robot, are major concerns.
Mike Johns, who also works in the tech industry, says he’d love to see services like Waymo succeed, but he’s not going to get into a self-driving taxi again until he’s sure the problems have been fixed .
