Enriko Papa (31), a central midfielder who was close to a move to FCSB in January 2022, has been unemployed since last summer after parting ways with Turks Rizespor, and is now ready to sign the return to the Romanian Superliga.
According to the latest information from the public space, the footballer who played for FC Botoșani and Sepsi OSK has reached an agreement with the boss and is to be officially presented.
Enriko Papa returns to the Romanian Superliga and has chosen who he signs with! Announcement about the footballer who was also on the FCSB list
Enriko Papa started his first adventure in Romanian football in July 2018, when he parted ways with his native KS Lushnja and signed as a free agent with FC Botoșani. After three and a half seasons, the Albanian midfielder managed to attract the attention of top clubs in the country, and in January 2022, Gigi Becali wanted to transfer him to FCSB. However, the billionaire from Pipera did not reach an agreement with Valeriu Iftime, and Papa was sold, 6 months later, in Turkey, to Rizespor.
Unfortunately for him, Enriko Papa did not establish himself in the “Land of the Crescent”, and in February 2023 he returned to Romania to sign with Sepsi as a footballer on loan. He didn’t do better in Covasna either, so in June 2023 he returned to Rizespor. A few weeks later, in August, the Turks terminated his deal and he has been unemployed ever since.
In January 2024, about Enriko Papa it was written that he was on Dinamo’s list, but also on that of Adrian Mititelu from FC U Craiova. However, none of the formations legitimized him. And more recently, at the beginning of July, it was circulated about the Albanian that he would have come to Romania to negotiate with Gică Hagi a transfer to Farul Constanța.
Ziare.com announces that the Pope clapped hands with a team from the Romanian Superliga, but it is not Farul. The Albanian midfielder agreed with Valeriu Iftime for a return to FC Botoșani, and his move would be officially announced in the next period.
FC Botoşani managed to transfer Enriko Papa. The midfielder is the first transfer of Liviu Ciobotariu, the team’s new coach”, he announces Ziare.com.
Liviu Ciobotariu took the place of Bogdan Andone
Liviu Ciobotariu signed the contract with FC Botoșani just two days ago on July 25th. He took the place of Bogdan Andone and was officially introduced through a press conference:
“It gives me great pleasure to be at Botoșani, in an environment where I worked 6 years ago. We had a perfect collaboration here. I accepted this offer because I really want FC Botoșani to return to what it was before. Whenever I came to Botoșani as an opponent, it was very difficult for my team to win. Every time, things got complicated because there was very good football in Botoșani.
I wish it to be the same at the moment. It won’t be easy, there are many things to put in place, I’m taking over a team on the fly, but I’ve taken it upon myself. I didn’t do the preparation, I didn’t do the batch, but that’s not an excuse for me. I chose this. I believe I have the experience to regulate these matters.
For me, Botoșani has always remained in my heart since I left. Last year I had emotions, but I was happy that it was saved from relegation. For this, the players and staff before me must be congratulated. I will try to make the team practice a good game. We need results, it’s the start of the championship and we’ll have to get points”, said the 53-year-old technician.
