Arrowhead Game Studios thanks all Helldivers 2 players by giving away the StA-X3 WASP Launcher stratagem for free in the Armory. Although 2024 was mostly full of ups and downs for gamers and Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 was a huge success and ends the year on a high note.
After a massively successful release in early 2024, Helldivers 2 has seen several ups and downs with its players, including bombarded reviews, the controversial PlayStation ID announcement, and updates that haven’t always met with player approval. However, Arrowhead continued to respond to feedback to improve the game, and Helldivers 2 was once again a huge success through the last major update called Omens of Tyranny. To celebrate, Arrowhead Game Studios is giving all players a special prize.
On Christmas, the Helldivers 2 studio thanked its passionate fan base via social media, giving all players free access to the StA-X3 WASP Launcher stratagem, which can be found in the Armory. The WASP is a tank destroyer rocket launcher, supporting the stratagem in Helldivers 2 that can fire seven auto-guided missiles in Burst mode, or fire a single missile in Artillery mode, which is effective for destroying groups of enemies.
For PlayStation fans, the StA-X3 WASP Launcher may be a bit nostalgic, as it’s a weapon originally from Killzone 3. The Stratagem was also revealed in early December as part of the Helldivers 2 and Killzone crossover, which added new weapons, cosmetic gear and two sets armor from the Sony franchise, such as AC-1 Dutiful and AC-2 Obedient.
While the crossover itself was well received by players, the way it was presented in the Premium Store was not well received. The prices were much higher than many expected, with both waves coming in at around $40 in total, which is roughly what Helldivers 2 cost at launch. Responding to player feedback, Arrowhead announced a change in plan for the Killzone crossover, giving away Wave 2 to all players and doubling the amount of time Wave 1 will be available in the Superstore.
