Helpful Team. How to Customize the iPhone Action Button to Work Differently across Apps

The action button on the latest generations of iPhone can perform a useful action on the device, but, unfortunately, only one selected in the settings. There is a trick to perform different actions with one click depending on the currently running application.

For example, when you press a button on the desktop, silent mode will be activated, if you press the Action Button when Safari is open, text from pages will be spoken by voice, and if the camera is running, Do Not Disturb mode will be activated so that no one interrupts the shooting. Of course, you can customize your applications and actions for them using the example below.

How to set up different actions for an Action Button

1. Download the free app Teams.

2. Download command via link.

3. Find the new command and go to its settings (click on the three dots).

4. Make the necessary changes to the script according to this principle:

Action while on desktop

When launched, the command checks which application is currently running. In the first case “there are no meanings” the action will be launched if you are on the desktop.

Action selected by default Open the application, replace it with what you need.

Next, if a specific application is launched, the button will perform a different action.

Replace application Safari for what is needed and instead of action Run quick command indicate what is required.

Then comes the action for the next application.

Replace application Camera for what is needed and instead of action On focusing do not disturb indicate what is required.

Block for adding a new application and actions for it

Using the same principle, you can add other “if” blocks and specify new applications and actions in them.

5. Save the completed command.

6. Go to Settings – Action Button and specify the launch of the shortcut Different actions for Action Button.

Now you can call different actions with one click depending on the currently open application.
