After the marathon deposition at the EL.AS homicide department. which lasted almost 8 hours, the mother of Irini Mourtzoukou, Popi Anagnostopoulou, left the General Police Directorate of Attica around 18:00 in the afternoon.
More specifically, as reported by police sources, Popi Anagnostopoulou seems to have “burned” her daughter by answering questions about the deaths of all five children and by revealing evidence of the fire which is expected to bring dominoes of new developments in the case of Amaliada.
The same sources state that Popi Anagnostopoulou was questioned about all five infant deaths – as expected – however, the police seem to have focused more on the death of the first child, i.e. Zoi Iliana’s daughter who passed away in 2014, but also of little Panagiotakis that ended last August.
However, she is considered a key witness in the case as she is the person who can and seems to have given crucial information about the deaths of the five babies, without deviating in essence from what she has publicly supported, as the first reports say.
The Homicide police officers, bearing in mind all of the above, wanted to know everything about Irini Murtzoukou’s childhood and adolescence, while also insisting on her claims about the alleged rapes by her mother’s partner and other possible relatives, which the mother in her testimony she categorically denied.
Testimonies on the deaths of the five infants are expected to continue as the list of witnesses who will shed light on the case is very long.
