Mihaela Rădulescu, a 55-year-old Romanian television star, shared on Instagram Nadia Comăneci’s words about the theft from gymnastics and was surprised to learn that her post was deleted.
She’s back with a new message posted on social media, expressing her bewilderment as to why Meta group bosses decided to censor her.
“Instagram decided to delete my post!”. Mihaela Rădulescu raged after distributing Nadia Comăneci’s words for nothing
Monday, August 5, 2024, gymnast Ana Maria Bărbosu was stripped of her bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in the final of the floor test. The young woman finished the competition in 3rd place overall, with a score of 13.700, but before the medals were awarded, the American Jordan Chiles filed an appeal. After about 30 seconds, the judges decided to increase the score of the American athlete by 10 hundredths. Thus, Jordan Chiles climbed from 5th place to 3rd place and took the medal from Ana Bărbosu’s neck.
The decision created stupor in Romania and beyond, and the most representative voices in Romanian gymnastics came out to attack. Among them was the legendary Nadia Comăneci, the “Goddess of Montreal”, the first 10-person athlete in the history of gymnastics, who did not hold back and called things out. Nadia Comăneci vehemently contested the referees’ decisionand her reaction garnered many likes.
Mihaela Rădulescu was also found among the people who shared her post. However, the TV star was surprised that Instagram censored her and practically deleted the message from her profile.
Shocked by the decision of the Meta group, which also owns Facebook or WhatsApp, among others, Mihaela Rădulescu returned with a new text on social networks:
“Instagram decided to delete my post in which I simply presented facts distributed by Nadia Comăneci, about the Romanian gymnasts at the Olympic Games, whose evolutions need re-examination to establish the truth and to give them the respect they deserve deserve. How funny the European laws are… Here is the text I wrote: “The legend Nadia Comăneci, the first to get a perfect 10 in the history of gymnastics, presents the obvious – the Romanian Sabrina Voinea, who was stripped of her Olympic medal for a mistake she he didn’t commit it, he deserves respect and a review of the wrong decision the referees made. The same is true for Ana Bărbosu. No one can take away the love and respect for your years of hard work and dedication for just one goal – to represent Romania as best as possible. And he did it!”. Are you going to delete this post too, Instagram?!”, Mihaela Rădulescu raged, on her Instagram page, where she has already collected over 1,000 likes.

As Mihaela Rădulescu also stated, not only Ana Bărbosu was disadvantaged. Sabrina Voinea finished the floor event final in 4th place, with a score of 13.700. She too filed an appeal, after being charged for a mistake she did not commit, but hers was denied by the umpires.
In addition, after the appeal of the American Jordan Chiles was accepted, Sabrina Voinea fell from the 4th place to the 5th place in the ranking of the said event.
This situation deserves a re-examination… We must protect the mental health of athletes and stand by them”, wrote Nadia Comăneci, to support Sabrina Voinea.
Instead, in support of Ana Bărbosu, the “Goddess from Montreal” sent:
I can’t believe that we are playing with the mental health and emotions of the athletes in this way… Let’s protect them”, said Nadia Comăneci.
This floor routine needs a review.. we need to protect athletes mental health for being there for them… #sabrinavoinea pic.twitter.com/scyDXvsCto
