The other time we made the list of winners at the Razzies Awards for worst actor of the last decade. This time, we’re focusing on the worst films. Here are the last 10 films to win the Razzie Award for Worst Feature Film.
2015 – Saving Christmas
Directed by Darren Doane, Saving Christmas is a conservative Christmas film led by Kirk Cameron. The story tells the story of Christian, played by Kirk Cameron, who seeks to save Christmas. His brother, Derrick, played by Barry Levingstonthinks that Christmas has become a simple commercial holiday. Christian, devout Christianwants to remind him of his historical, religious and family importance. Saving Christmas won the Razzie Award du Pire film facing, in particular, 3 blockbusters: The Legend of Hercules, Transformers: Age of Extinction et Ninja Turtles. Great performance. Additionally, Kirk Cameron also won the Razzie for Worst Actor. The film also won the Worst scenario a you Pire duo for Kirk Cameron and his ego. Always so much humor from the Razzies.
2016 – 50 Shades of Grey
So that year it was 50 Shades of Grey which won the Razzie Award for Worst Film (Fantastic Four, Jupiter Ascending et Pixel were also in competition). Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, 50 Shades of Grey was nevertheless a global phenomenon with more than $569 million of box office revenue. The film even spawned two suites. In addition to the Worst Movie Razzie, 50 Shades of Grey also won the Razzies Worst Actor for Jamie Dormanof the Worst actress for Dakota Johnsonof Worst scenario a you Worst on-screen duo. Quite a track record.
2017 – Hillary’s America : The Secret History of the Democratic Party
And yes, this bizarre conservative documentary made by Dinesh D’Souza was awarded by the Worst Movie Razzie. For those who don’t know, Dinesh D’Souza is an essayist and political commentator who has already hit the headlines because of his conservative views and his controversial documentaries. Avant Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Partyhe had already made a lot of talk about himself through the documentary 2016 : Obama’s America (2012) in which he criticizes the political legacy of Barack Obama. Dinesh D’Souza was even convicted in 2014 for accusations of election fraud, which added to his controversial reputation. Hillary’s America : The Secret History of the Democratic Party is a firebrand against Hillary Clinton’s policies, and a nauseating film that received 5 statuettes (deserved) at the Razzies Awards. Besides the worst movie, Hillary’s America : The Secret History of the Democratic Party won the Razzies Worst actor for Dinesh D’Souza and Worst actress for Rebekah Turner, who plays Hillary Clinton.
2018 – The Secret World of Emojis
Directed by Tony Leondis, The Secret World of Emojis was a resounding critical failure despite a rather positive score at the box office: more than 217 million dollars in revenue (for a budget of 50 million). An animated film without flavor, it is no surprise that The Secret World of Emojis walked away with the Razzie Award Worst movie in the beard of Baywatch, Fifty Shades Darker, The Mummy et Transformers : The Last Knight.
2019 – Holmes & Watson
Will Ferrell et John C. Reilly are outstanding actors. True icons of American comedy, these two cult actors have appeared in iconic comedies such as Brothers in spite of themselves (2008), Ricky Bobby : roi du circuit (2006) or even Living legends (2014). Brothers in spite of themselves being one of the the most emblematic American comedies of the 21st century. Unfortunately, with Holmes & Watsonthe duo goes completely astray. Written and directed by Ethan Cohen (not to be confused with Ethan Coenthe H not being in the same place), Holmes & Watson is a sluggish comedy that diverts the universe from Conan Doyle with the subtlety of an elephant in a china shop. Unsurprisingly, Etan Cohen’s comedy left with the Worst Movie Razziebut also Worst supporting role male for John C. Reilly, of Worst director a you Pire remake/suite/reboot. A nice track record then.
2020 – Cats
How hideous it was Cats. Directed by Tom Hooper, Cats is a film adaptation of the musical of the same name. Except that Cats is an uncomfortable work, totally WTF, with lunar special effects and with a terribly ugly aesthetic. The film was taken down by critics for its more than astonishing visual approach (in the bad sense of the word) and therefore won a Razzie Award of the Best well-deserved film. The feature film also left with the statuette of Worst actor for James Corden, of Worst Supporting Actress for Rebel Wilsonof the Worst combination on screenof Worst scenario a you Worst director. In addition, Cats was a huge commercial failure with only $75 million recipe for a budget of $95 million. Quite a shipwreck for Universal…
2021 – Absolute Proof
Directed by Mike Lindellan entrepreneur known as the founder of MyPillow, Absolute Proof is a documentary dedicated to cyberattacks believed to have potentially influenced the 2020 US presidential elections. A controversial film since it claimed to present evidence of widespread fraud during the 2020 US presidential election, where Joe Biden won the presidency against Donald Trump. Obviously, the Razzies Awards, as regular detractors of Donald Trump, did not hesitate to have fun with Absolute Proofsince in addition to the Razzie for Worst Film, the feature film also won the Worst Actor Razzie for Mike Lindell.
2022 – Diana: The Musical
Diana is a musical comedy broadcast live on Netflix le 1is October 2021, sans public, COVID oblige. It is a musical comedy directed by Christopher Ashley which tells the life of Diana Spencer. This show explores the defining moments of her life, her marriage to Prince Charles, her global impact, and the personal challenges she faced. A tribute which obviously did not appeal to the Razzies since Diana: The Musical won a statuette of the Worst movie of the year. Jeanna de Waal and Judy Kaye also won the Razzies for Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress. The film completes its list of achievements with awards for Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.
2023 – Blonde
THE Razzies are rarely tender with Netflix. The proof once again in 2023, when it is Blonde, the biopic on Marylin Monroe which won the Worst Film Award. Directed by Andrew Dominikthe film, which still lasts 2h46, was an opportunity to see the sublime Ana de Armas in the shoes of the no less sublime Marilyn Monroe. A biopic which certainly drags on, but which probably did not deserve a Worst Movie Razzie. Especially since the film would compete with Good Mourning de Machine Gun Kelly, The King’s Daughter et Morbius. Frankly, on this one, you Razzies were tough!
2024 – Winnie-the-Pooh : Blood and Honey
We can understand that the Razzies decide to punish Winnie-the-Pooh : Blood and Honey. It must be said that the film Rhys Frake-Waterfield is a broke production, which benefits from the character of Winnie the Pooh has fallen into the public domain to make a stupid slasher which barely justifies the use of said character. It’s often very stupid, not very well produced, and ultimately Winnie is just a lumberjack wearing a brown bear mask (and the mask isn’t even convincing). But we can nevertheless emphasize Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s effort to offer an offbeat horror universesince in addition to a sequel, he wants to derive this concept on other Disney characters like Mickey, Bambi and Peter Pan. Frankly, on paper, we find the idea brilliant, but let’s see how this whole universe will evolve.
