This Chinese manufacturer knows how to talk to us: a very compact mini machine, with RGB, a dedicated GPU and a very efficient cooling system.
As the mini PC market continues to grow, with an invasion of machines coming straight from China, Geekom announces a very attractive machine.
The Megamini G1, presented at IFA 2024, is not just another mini PC. It is a real statement of intent: to prove that you can have the power of a gaming tower in a compact format.
But be careful, we are not talking about a Lilliputian PC here. With its dimensions of 255 x 150 x 150 mm, the Megamini G1 is compact. However, do not be fooled: every cubic centimeter of this machine is optimized.
And above all, the Chinese manufacturer has not skimped on the visual aspect. The Megamini G1 sports an aluminum design with large windows, allowing you to admire its components. An integrated LCD screen displays information on the system’s performance in real time. And of course, like any good self-respecting gaming PC, RGB LEDs.
A racing beast (for its size)
The heart of this little marvel? An Intel Core i9-13900H processor. For the uninitiated, this is a chip found on gaming laptops. This processor, with its 14 cores (6 for high performance and 8 for efficiency), can reach frequencies of up to 5.4 GHz.
But Geekom doesn’t stop there. The real star of this show is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 graphics card with 8 GB of dedicated memory. It’s not the best out there, but it runs all the current games in good conditions.
To complete this idyllic picture, Geekom has opted for 32 GB of DDR5 RAM clocked at 5,200 MHz, expandable up to 64 GB. And for storage, two M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD slots are available, allowing you to install up to 4 TB of storage.
Liquid cooling
Now, let’s talk about the real innovation of this mini PC: its liquid cooling system.
This mini machine features a 6,888 mm² copper heat sink, bathed in 360 milliliters of coolant. Two fans (120 mm and 70 mm) complete the device, which should keep temperatures under control even during an intensive gaming session.
This cooling system is not just a technical feat, it is also a necessity. With so much power concentrated in such a small space, thermal management becomes essential. Geekom seems to have taken up this challenge brilliantly, at least that is what seems to be the case.
Connectivity: spoilt for choice
In terms of connectivity, the Megamini G1 is over the top with no fewer than 15 ports. It includes 2.5G Ethernet, two HDMI 2.0 outputs, an OCuLink connector capable of speeds of up to 64 Gbps (ideal for connecting an external GPU if the RTX 4060 isn’t enough for you), and a plethora of USB ports.
Wireless connectivity is not left out with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
Note that pricing has not yet been announced. We will have the opportunity to see this mini machine at IFA, in early September.
