A new report has revealed the annual salary Prince William earns from his titles. The figure will leave you speechless!
Have you ever wondered how much royals earn for their work in the public (and beyond)? Thanks to some new revelations, we know how much Prince William earns.
The future British monarch recently saw a significant increase in his annual income thanks to the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which posted an impressive surplus of over €27 million during the 2023-24 financial year.
The Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate worth over a billion pounds, was created by King Edward III in 1337 with the intention of providing financial support to heirs to the throne for centuries to come.
Since William, 42, inherited the Dukedom of Cornwall from his father, King Charles III, the estate has become a significant source of income for the prince and his family.
The recent news that the Duchy produced such a large surplus revealed not only the extent of the Duchy’s resources, but also the financial benefits accruing to William; offering a fascinating insight into the financial life of the royal family.
How much does Prince William earn?
The 2023-24 financial year is the first in which Prince William and his family have enjoyed the full excess of the Duchy, having inherited the title and estate in the middle of the previous financial year.
But the funds of the Duchy do not all end up in the pockets of the royal family: they are used to support local initiatives, they are invested in the restoration and maintenance of historical properties and real estate, and a significant part is set aside for charitable and public purposes.
So how much did Prince William actually earn this year?
According to the Integrated Annual Report, the net earnings of the heir to the throne amounted to almost 7 million euros, and a significant part was retained by the Duchy for working capital needs.
In case you’re wondering, King Charles earned over 13 million euros in the same period.
