Spotify connects to Instagram and TikTok, letting you share songs and podcasts and add them to playlists. We show how it works.
Discovering, sharing and promoting music is expanding and becoming easier than ever across three central platforms in the digital space. The streaming service Spotify has introduced new integrations for Instagram and TikTokwhich expand existing collaborations and take sound discovery to a whole new level. Spotify explained:
(…) We know our listeners crave a seamless listening experience across all of their devices, platforms, and apps, and our ambition is to be accessible everywhere our listeners are (…).
Now possible:
Transfer music from TikTok to Spotify and Co
Share your favorite audios on TikTok
Spotify has had a number of integrations up its sleeve for some time that make sharing music easier. The cooperation partners include Snapchat, X, Metas platforms and TikTok. In 2023, the entertainment app also introduced a function that allows songs to be transferred directly to Spotify playlists. On Instagram, Spotify even allows account linking and lets users save sounds in Spotify playlists and transfer trending songs.
Now two new options are added. Users of the streaming service can easily share songs, albums, playlists, podcasts or audio books on TikTok. Sharing is possible in the stories and in the For You Feed, but also in DMs. Using the share buttons – for example in play mode – on Spotify, users can share the audio content directly on TikTok, where it is integrated in green screen mode and with a link.
The feature complements the Songs save function from TikTok to Spotify and is being rolled out globally for iOS and Android.
Save songs from Instagram directly to Spotify
The streaming service from Sweden provides a function for Instagram that we have already reported on in the test. Users can add songs that they discover in Reels, for example, to their Spotify playlists with just one tap.
If you want to use the function, you should use the latest app versions. Users can then use the add function for songs and find them on Spotify in the Liked Songs playlist or their own library. This function is also being rolled out for iOS and Android at the same time.
Meanwhile, Spotify’s competition is also following suit: App researcher Radu Oncescu reports that Apple Music allows songs to be exported directly to TikTok and used there in posts or sent via DM.
