HR has further expanded its digital radio station network. Even better DAB+ reception in East Hesse is now guaranteed.
Which station was switched on?
On November 28th, Hessischer Rundfunk started regular broadcasting of its DAB+ multiplex on channel 7B via the Heidelstein/Rhön transmitter location. Although this is an important location for East Hesse, it is still on Bavarian soil. The HR DAB+ package is distributed via the new Heidelstein/Röhn location with an output of 2 kW ERP. In this way, he primarily ensures the regional improvement of the reception of HR programs via DAB+.
Where is reception improving?
The new Heidelstein/Rhön transmitter primarily improves indoor reception in the more rural areas in and around the small towns of Ebersburg, Gersfeld and Hilders. In addition, the mobile reception of the HR multiplex on channel 7B is also improving.
To date, the region has only been inadequately supplied with the HR DAB+ package. Namely via the Kreuzberg/Rhön location, which is also in Bavaria.
How many transmitter locations does HR use?
With the commissioning of the Heidelstein/Rhön location, Hessischer Rundfunk’s DAB+ transmitter network currently has 19 locations. Five other locations are at least in the planning phase. It is not yet known when the additional locations will go into operation.
