Divize Manufacturing Intelligence Hexagonu announced a number of new metrology-related products at IMTS 2024 in Chicago. Metrology Mentor is a new SaaS application that automates the creation of measurement programs. The software solution (based on the Nexus digital reality platform) offers fast, reliable and repeatable measurement programs.

Metrology Mentor solves the time-consuming and complex programming of coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Using advanced algorithms, the software automates the creation of measurement programs directly from CAD data and complies with industry standards such as ISO and ASME. According to the company, Metrology Mentor eliminates the need for manual programming, reduces human error and ensures consistency across all measurement processes.

New Hexagon product VISIUS is an intuitive optical coordinate measurement solution designed to meet the evolving quality control needs of modern manufacturers and machine shops.

VISIUS comes in an all-in-one configuration that includes:

  • Bezkontaktní vizuální měření: Captures high-resolution images for precise inspection of parts.
  • Touch probe functions: Provides accurate measurement of discrete points.
  • Možnost chromatického snímače bílého světla (CWS): Umožňuje bezkontaktní měření povrchu.

In addition, Hexagon’s METUS measurement software is specifically designed for use with the VISIUS system. This software takes the complexity out of vision measurement workflows and reduces the time and cost associated with quality and process management tasks.

VISIUS can also be integrated with HxGN Visual Detection, Hexagon’s automated surface inspection software that uses machine learning to automatically detect and classify surface defects such as scratches, dents and defects on a wide range of materials. VISIUS offers measurement accuracy in accordance with the ISO 10360 standard.

The company also announced the Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800, which combines laser tracking with laser radar functionality, allowing manufacturers to measure detailed features and adhere to tight assembly tolerances from tens of meters away. According to the company, the Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800 offers a significant increase in productivity in large part manufacturing and assembly operations by safely and quickly measuring critical elements and minimizing common production bottlenecks.

The new system allows manufacturers to accurately measure fine edges and features in large volumes, quickly and from a convenient distance. This avoids unreliable measurements and safety issues and saves a significant amount of time.

By combining direct scanning and reflector tracking, the new system replaces two pieces of hardware with a single device. Using Hexagon’s patented PowerLock technology, the AT‑S800 automatically and instantly ‘locks’ onto a fixed reflector and tracks its movement in real time, providing an absolute reference position. The ability to measure target reflectors also greatly simplifies robotic automation processes by providing an accurate position reference within a wider coordinate system if the tracking device is mounted on a linear rail or autonomous mobile robot (AMR).
