DAPURPACUID – Every motorbike rider must understand the important elements of driving safety in order to reduce the number of accidents that occur on the road.
This applies regardless of genre, whether male or female riders. Driving safety must always be prioritized even if you only travel short distances.
There are many things that can happen on the road, from accidents that result in minor injuries to fatalities.
“Male and female drivers have different ways of driving, so to avoid (accidents) we need a greater understanding of driving safety,” explained Head of Safety Riding Promotion PT Wahana Makmur Sejati, Agus Sani.
“To be able to drive safely, female drivers are also expected to respect other drivers,” said Agus, in a written statement some time ago.
To minimize these conditions, especially female drivers must fully understand driving safety, including the road terrain they will be traveling on.
Moreover, in the current era, female riders or those who are often known as lady bikers, are experiencing an increase in users from year to year.
So, in order to reduce the number of accidents, motorcyclists must prioritize driving safety and obey applicable traffic signs to remain #Safe_Search.
For female riders, PT WMS’s Safety Riding Promotion emphasizes that there are several basics that need to be considered when on the road, including:
Turn on the turn signal before turning
The function of the turn signal is to provide information to other drivers behind. So before turning, female drivers are required to turn on the turn signal in the direction they want to go.
Look in your rearview mirror and maintain speed when turning
Paying attention to the rearview mirror first will ensure safety when turning. Apart from that, you also need to pay attention to motorbike speed to avoid accidents due to blind spots or tire slippage.
Don’t run red lights
Motorcyclists are obliged to obey red lights and not violate them even when they are in an urgent situation.
Not Close to Large Vehicles
Vehicles with large dimensions certainly have very large blind spots, and quite a few bus or truck drivers can see motorbikes around the vehicle.
Always be calm when on a motorbike
It’s not just a technical matter, the psychological side must also be taken into consideration. Riders, especially women, when riding in any conditions on a motorbike, must remain calm, not be emotional and make rash decisions.
Female motorbike riders are also advised to always carry not too much luggage so as not to cause problems when braking and turning.
It is highly recommended that you store your luggage in the trunk or compartment provided, for security and comfort reasons of course.
Apart from that, don’t use your smartphone while driving because it will reduce your concentration and alertness on the road. Safety gear such as helmets must still be worn even if you only cover short distances.
“By paying attention to safety aspects for yourself first, you can reduce the potential for accidents on the road. “We need to respect other road users and not be selfish,” concluded Agus. (dpid/TH)
