Hino Collaborates with North Sumatra DISHUB to Hold City BUS Driving Training

DAPURPACUID – North Sumatra Province DISHUB, together with PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) and the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) held urban bus driver training, in Medan, North Sumatra.

Located at LePolonia Hotel & Convention Jl. General Sudirman, the training was opened by the Head of the Sumatra Province Transportation Service, Dr. Agustinus Panjaitan was attended by the Head of Sub-Directorate for South Sumatra Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Head of Sub-Directorate for Gakkum, North Sumatra Police Traffic Directorate Commissioner Rika S. Sigalingging and the Chair of the North Sumatra Organda DPD, Prof. Haposan Siallagan as well as representatives of Jasa Raharja and bus operators.

The training was attended by 50 urban public transport drivers, from city transport drivers to bus drivers. This activity is supported by Hino, the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) and Clean Air Asia as implementers of the UKPact Future Cities program in a program consortium led by the University of York.

Safety and inclusiveness training for urban public transport drivers in Medan, Binjai, Deli Serdang (Mefeld) is the first city for activities held by MTI which was attended by 50 bus drivers operating in the North Sumatra area. The aim of this activity is to improve the skills of reliable bus drivers so that driving safety increases. MTI invited Hino as a partner in this training to develop training modules and provide training materials and evaluation at the end of the session.

Hino and MTI Hold Bus Driver Training

“This urban bus driver training is a concrete manifestation of Hino’s commitment to supporting the safety and comfort of public transportation. “We hope that this training will not only improve the technical skills of drivers, but also bring positive changes in public transportation services, making them more reliable and trustworthy for the community,” said Pieter Andre, Head of Training & Network Development Division, HMSI.

“Thank you to the 50 drivers who attended this activity which we feel is very important, especially as we will develop urban transportation around Medan. “We, on behalf of the Provincial Government, are grateful that today the consortium of MTI, Clean Air Asia and UK Pact Future Cities supported by Hino is bringing us together, in line with our efforts to realize safety,” said Dr. Agustinus Panjaitan, Head of North Sumatra Province Transportation Agency.

Chairman of the MTI Road and Railway Transportation Forum, Aditya Dwi Laksana, said, “His party encourages the Regional Government of North Sumatra to provide safe and comfortable urban transportation. Of course, so that people can switch from private vehicles to public transportation.”

During the training, bus drivers received technical training on driving safety from the Hino Indonesia Academy (HIA) and the National General Accessibility Movement (GAUN) for disability access. Drivers are expected to be able to understand basic safe and secure driving techniques, starting from how to prepare the vehicle before operating, identifying damage, driving efficiently to controlling the vehicle.
