The VW Golf swam into the new era with a mixed style
The carefully designed routes between Hannover and Wolfsburg are practically the homeland of the Volkswagen Golf. Driving them today, we realize that there is no Golf that could be described as a car that lacks power, and that they are quite imaginative in terms of drive.
VW has improved the Golf in all areas. From the outside, the innovation is the IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlights, a premium detail that matches the illuminated VW logo. We find out what else has been done by taking a look behind the scenes of the tables.
There are 11 engines with high torque, but economical for exploitation.
eTSI : an abbreviation that defines the current peak of mild hybrid technology development. The base is a 1.5 liter TSI evo2 petrol engine. The 48 volt starter alternator adds 14 kW of power and 65 Nm of torque. Depending on the version, 116 or 150 hp, available torque ranges from 220 to 250 Nm.
eHybrid i GTE : 204 or even 272 hp! The 1.5 liter evo2 powered by an 85 kw electric motor is again at work. Although these two plug-in models are technologically very similar, the more powerful version has a torque of 400 Nm. Explosive flow of power guaranteed! With a range of up to 140 km in electric driving mode, you practically have a city electric car for every day.
Classic TSI and TDI they are not cat’s cough. Even the basic version of the TSI with 116 hp accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. In the TDI variant, that figure is around 10 seconds with diesel consumption ranging from 4.7 to 5.2 liters.
Classic engines are not surrendered in the VW Golf, although they are threatened by mild and plug-in hybrids
GOLF GTI
From the offer in the style of “Golf cuts for everyone’s taste”, we should single out the classic, I would say anti-electric perfection, sweet gasoline sin named Golf GTI.
One would even say that the GTE is more perfect than the GTI in every way. However, the GTI offers that autobahn racing experience that you’ve only seen in the movies. So if behind the wheel of this car you feel like a character from an action movie (American or Swedish, it doesn’t matter) VW has fulfilled the task.
Regardless of the principles dictated by Davos, VW is a manufacturer of cars and not computers, which is successfully proven in action
GTI models based on the two-liter TSI gasoline engine deserve not a special feature in the “Hot Tires” show, but their own TV series. The fourth generation of the legendary two-liter TSI engine is at work. The mixture of fuel and air is injected into the combustion chambers under a pressure of 350 Bar.
The Golf GTI has been increased by 20 horses compared to the previous generation and now develops 265 of them. The maximum torque of this engine with a volume of 1984 cubic centimeters is 370 Nm. Equipped with a seven-speed DSG gearbox, the Golf GTI accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and up to 250 km/h.
We should mention that the Golf GTI Clubsport accelerates to 5.6 seconds with just 300 hp.
Golf R version: 333 hp, 420 Nm and 4.6 seconds to 100 km/h, all this in spite of figures associated with electric vehicles.
In addition to this expertise in terms of classic motoring, things like the diagonal (central display 12.9 inches if anyone is interested), lighting controls, radio and climate control, Chat GPT that interferes with everything, more precisely, it is integrated in “Digital cockpit Pro” and even remote parking by means of a mobile phone … all this belongs not to the second but to the fifth plan.
And to conclude: the Golf still looks like a Golf, because it is not the 8th generation of a mega-successful model, but a car that sets standards that others have been trying to reach for half a century.
