Inoxtag has a series of projects, and above all, successes! After breaking a new YouTube record with his documentary Kaizenthe videographer panics the meters with his manga, Instinct. InstinctInoxtag’s first manga, is a hit
Edited by Michel Lafon, the first volume ofInstinct breaks unexpected records. Inoxtag’s latest project carried out the best start in France for a manga, just behind One Piece #100 ! The videographer has reason to be proud of his work, imagined with Basile Monnot, the director of the documentary Kaizenand the designer Charles Compain, who here marks his debut as an artist. Announced this month, Instinct benefited from a release with great fanfare: printed in 400,000 copiesit occupies a prominent place in bookstores and other points of sale. A strategy which is bearing fruit, since the first volume sold several tens of thousands of copies. The exact figures differ however, of 80,000 copies (according to our colleagues at Les Échos as well as the editor) at 67 000 copies (according to the GfK search engine), behind the 130,000 copies of One Piece #100 sold in three days.
A Frenchman in the Top 3
Whatever the actual amount, Instinct explodes all records, multiplying by 3 or 4 the record of the second holder of the title best-selling manga in France the week of its release, namely Kaiju n°8 and its 22,041 copies (in 2021). Previously, this place was occupied by Dragon Ball Super and its 17,299 copies (in 2017). On the plot side, Instinct tells the story ofHaki, a 19-year-old young man with the gift of detecting the intentions of others. He perceives the aura of those around him and must constantly endure human nature. When he learns that he has an incurable virus and that he only has a few months left to live, he meets Luna, an intriguing young girl which gives him a glimpse of a better world.
A pitch that obviously appealed to many readers!
