Historical series in 17th-century Japan tops with 25 Emmy nominations

The American TV series “Shogun”, based on the classic of the same name from the 1980s, is running with 25 nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards.

This is evident from the list of all nominations for the awarding of the American television award Emmy, which takes place on 15 September.

The series, which takes viewers back to the 17th century in Japan, is thus the series that has attracted the most nominations in the country this year.

The story is based on a well-known myth about an English sailor who, in the 17th century, is stranded in Japan, which is characterized by a feudalistic society.

“Shogun”, which takes place primarily in Japanese, lands among other nominations in the categories of best female actor in a drama series, best male actor in a drama series and best drama series.

If the series were to win the award for best drama series, it will be historic. Never before has the award for best drama series gone to a series that takes place predominantly in a language other than English.

FX, which is the company behind the series, tips HBO off the stick with the many nominations. Year after year, HBO has had a firm grip on the drama category with series like “Succession” and “The Last of US.”

Right behind “Shogun” is the American hit series “The Bear” with 23 nominations.

Thus, “The Bear”, which is about a chef who tries to turn the tables on the family’s sandwich bar in Chicago, sets the record for the most Emmy nominations for a comedy series.

“Shogun” will compete against, among others, “The Crown”, “Fallout”, “The Morning Show” and “Slow Horses” for the award for best drama series.

“The Bear” is nominated for best comedy series and must fight for the award against “Reservation Dogs”, “Hacks” and “Abbott Elementary”.

The award ceremony itself will take place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
