The third event of the ‘Creating Clean Rivers and Streams’ project planned by Hite Jinro (CEO Kim In-gyu) to commemorate its 100th anniversary was held at Yangjae Stream near the Seocho headquarters.
On the 31st, about 20 Hite Jinro executives and employees announced that they had conducted ‘EM mud ball throwing and plogging’ at Yangjae Stream near the Seocho headquarters the day before.
On this day, 3,000 pre-made EM clay balls (balls made with fermented useful microorganisms and red clay) were thrown into Yangjae Stream. When EM (Effective Microorganism) clay balls are fermented for a certain period of time and then put into a river or stream, they gradually dissolve and have the effect of purifying water quality and removing bad odors. When the ecosystem of rivers and streams is restored, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be absorbed and reduced.
500 EM clay balls made by participants through field experience were donated to the ‘EM Life Sharing Movement’ to be used in the next environmental activity.
To commemorate its 100th anniversary, Hite Jinro has been carrying out environmental cleanup activities such as throwing EM clay balls in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, Changwon, Gyeongnam, and Seocho, Seoul, where its beer/soju factory and headquarters are located. We plan to conclude this year’s ‘Creating Clean Rivers’ project with the 4th event in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, where the soju factory is located, around the middle of next month.
Kim In-gyu, CEO of Hite Jinro, said, “To celebrate the 100th anniversary of our founding, we are carrying out the ‘Creating Clean Rivers and Streams’ project to sincerely engage in environmental purification activities.” He added, “We will continue to achieve 100% through various and sincere activities for the environment and ecosystem.” “We will fulfill our mission as a company.”
