Hitman: World of Assassination is a real success, really huge number of users

IO Interactive announced that Hitman: World of Assassination (purchasable on Amazon) reached 75 million users, becoming the most successful title in the series. As of December 2024, nearly 10 years after launch, the game had one million active players.

This result demonstrates the longevity and success of the live service model adopted for Hitman. The game maintains a solid user base thanks to continuous support and periodic events proposed by the developers.

Hitman: World of Assassination is a tactical shooter that reflects the classic style of the series in a live service context. Players must eliminate specific objectives on large maps, choosing the best approach for each situation. The gaming formula continues to attract new users, as demonstrated by recent numbers.

Among recent events, the mission with stands out Jean-Claude Van Damme as a target, an example of the original content offered by the game. IO Interactive has confirmed that support will continue into 2025 with plenty of new content on the way.

The fact that Hitman: World of Assassination maintain one million monthly active players nearly a decade after launch is indicative of its success as a live service game. IO Interactive’s strategy of providing regular updates and content has proven successful in maintaining community interest.

This milestone consolidates Hitman’s position as one of the flagship series in the stealth game genre and demonstrates the long-term potential of live service games (even single player, as in this case).

The Hitman series, born more than 20 years ago by IO Interactive continues to reap successes. We don’t know if we will see a new chapter in the series anytime soon (even considering that the team is busy on the new 007 game), but at least we know that the World of Assassination trilogy continues to be supported by the software house.
