H&M and the Creative Director of the Diesel brand come up with a new collaboration

H&M comes with another of its successful collections, created in collaboration with the best luxury clothing designers. Now they have announced that a new one will be released this autumn, this time with Glen Martens, the creative director of Diesel, who is known for his ability to combine streetwear with more traditional elegant fashion.

The Swedish fashion retailer H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB, known primarily as a fast fashion chain, has been cooperating with the world’s best designers since 2004, when they presented a collection in conjunction with the world-famous legend Karl Lagerfeld, who was then the head of the French house Chanel. Since then, many other similar projects have followed. In the last twenty years, they have joined forces with important personalities of the fashion world – from designers focused on a more classic design associated with traditional luxury, such as Mugler (2023), Roberto Cavalli (2007) or Lanvin (autumn 2010), through more daring collaborations with names such as Isabel Marant (2013), Alexander Wang (2014) or Stella McCartney (2005), up to brands known for their extravagance, which include, for example, Comme des Garçons by Rei Kawakubo (2008) or the French avant-garde Maison Martin Margiela (2012).

The effort to connect the unique creativity and specific style of both parties and to bring this high fashion industry closer to ordinary people who otherwise usually do not get to it – either because they do not want to or cannot – was a success, and we all wanted to continue.

It is therefore not surprising that Glen Martens is the next choice for this project. A native Belgian who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, which is the alma mater of personalities such as Raf Simons, Dries Van Noten or Ann Demeulemeester, he successfully follows in their footsteps. In his work portfolio, for example, he has the creative direction of Y/Project, where he has been active since 2013 until now, or work for Jean Paul Gaultier focused more on haute couture. Last but not least, his current role at Diesel proves that he knows how to work with both poles of the industry – whether it’s a new, bolder take on ordinary jeans, or beautiful evening dresses that show the beauty and lightness that fashion has to offer.
