THE HMD introduced the Skyline, its most powerful mobile to date. It has a design reminiscent of Nokia N9 and is easily repaired, allowing you to replace a cracked screen or faulty battery in less than 10 minutes.
Skyline features 6.5-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. It has a 50 MP front camera with autofocus. There is a chipset Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and HMD equipped the phone with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. There’s also a slot for a micro SD card for an additional 512GB of storage. On the back, the Skyline has a triple camera setup: a 108MP main camera with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 50MP 2x telephoto camera that offers up to 4x zoom. HMD has embraced AI technology with the AI Capture Fusionwhich maximizes detail in photos taken with it.
The back of the Skyline can easily open by unscrewing a single screw, allowing for quick repairs of cracked screens, bent charging ports or dead batteries using standard iFixit kits. iFixit will also supply the parts. The battery itself is a 4,600mAh cell that supports wired and magnetic Qi2 33W wireless charging and Qi2 15W magnetic charging. The device includes a customizable button on the side for quick access to apps and features.
The phone is running Android 14 and will receive 2 OS updates and 3 years of security patches. It also has a detox feature, which allows you to limit notifications and access to social networks in case things start to get overwhelming.
The HMD Skyline will cost €499. Due to easy repairability, users can also purchase parts directly from the manufacturer. The monitor costs $95. The battery cover is $30, the battery itself is $25, and the charging port is $20. The first purchase should be a repair kit, offered by iFixit, which is $5 extra.
