THE HMD reveal it Skylinethe brand’s most powerful phone to date, with a design reminiscent of the Nokia N9.
The company touts Gen 2 repairability, which means you can replace a cracked screen or a failed battery in less than 10 minutes.
The Skyline features a 6.5-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. It has a 50 MP front camera with autofocus.
There’s a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset inside and 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. There’s also a micro SD card slot for an additional 512GB of storage.
On the back, the Skyline features a triple camera system: a 108MP main camera with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens that offers up to 4x zoom. HMD has embraced artificial intelligence technology with AI Capture Fusion, which maximizes detail in photos captured with it.
The back cover of the Skyline can be opened easily by unscrewing a single screw, allowing cracked screens, bent charging ports or dead batteries to be quickly repaired using standard iFixit kits. iFixit will also supply the parts.
The battery is a 4,600mAh cell that supports 33W wired charging and 15W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. The device includes a customizable button on the side for quick access to apps and features.
The phone runs Android 14 and will receive 2 OS updates and 3 years of security patches. It also has a detox function, which allows you to limit notifications and access to social networks in case you slip up.
The HMD Skyline will cost €499 / $499 / £399, but there won’t be a charger in the box. HMD offers a 33W wall charger for £30 or a 30W dual port adapter for £20 on its website.
Due to its easy repair, users can also buy parts directly from the manufacturer. The monitor is priced at $95. the battery cover is $30, the battery itself is $25, and the charging port is $20. The first purchase should be with a repair kit, offered by iFixit, which is $5 extra.
