Holger Rune suffers from wrist pain before the Olympics

Holger Rune has several defects, shortly before the tennis tournament in the Olympics starts in a week.

On Friday, he withdrew from his quarter-final against Arthur Fils at the ATP tournament in Hamburg with pain in one of his knees, but there is also another problem.

“We’ll have to see here in the next few days whether it gets better. It is actually the wrist that is the biggest challenge right now. It has hurt since Rome”, says Holger Rune’s mother and manager, Aneke Rune, to TV 2 Sport.

Holger Rune is the third seed in next week’s ATP 250 tournament in Croatian Umag.

Initially, however, he must meet with a specialist in Umag to overcome his problems, states Aneke Rune.

Rune was behind 4-6, 1-4 when he retired against Fils on Friday. However, the pain in the knee already arose in the victory over the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan in the first round.

He then also knocked out Argentine qualifier Marco Trungelliti before the meeting with Fils became the final stop.

In addition to Rune, Clara Tauson and Caroline Wozniacki also represent Denmark at the Olympics in Paris.

The trio all compete in singles, and there is also the possibility that Denmark can enter a mixed doubles.
