Honda presented a modernized Civic in Japan, which received new RS equipment for the new model year.
The RS equipment includes a sport-tuned suspension, a six-speed manual gearbox and a visual package that looks identical to the concept from the tuner showroom in Tokyo.
The redesigned bumper is applied across the range, but the RS stands out from the e:HEV version thanks to special badging, darker detailing and black 18-inch wheels.
The Japanese Civic RS has a body with five doors, whose appearance can be adjusted with original accessories from the Honda Access catalog. Of particular note is the large rear spoiler reminiscent of the Civic Type R, although owners can opt for a more discreet spoiler as an alternative. Other options include aerodynamic fender extensions and a sporty grille trim and lower air vent in the front bumper.
The interior features red details on the dashboard and door panels, contrasting with the dark upholstery. The Civic RS is the only one offered on the Japanese market with a six-speed manual transmission, as the rest of the lineup has a CVT.
A manual gearbox is combined with a standard 1.5 liter turbo VTEC engine.
The new Honda Civic lineup in Japan also includes LX and EX trim levels. They are offered with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine or with the Sports e:HEV” hybrid drive.
The modernized Civic will hit the Japanese market next month, while prices and other specifications will be announced later.
