The new generation Civic Type R may be more mature on the outside, but the Japanese have taken care to make it more powerful and maneuverable than ever. The hot hatch also comes to Romania, with 330 HP and only with manual transmission.
The previous generation Civic Type R was heavily criticized by some for its design, so the new generation performance model has a more mature design where every element has a well thought out function. The intakes are real, the rear spoiler contributes to stability at high speeds, and the flared fenders allow the mounting of wider tires.
Of course, the whole package is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol unit, now in its third generation. The supercharged petrol engine now produces 330 hp and 420 Nm, power transmitted exclusively to the front axle via a six-speed manual gearbox. In the spirit of this model, the new generation also does not have the option of an automatic transmission.

Under the hood is an even more powerful version of the Honda K20C1 engine. Power, torque and response are enhanced by a redesigned turbocharger. Also, increased airflow and a new, more efficient exhaust system that has a direct design and an active exhaust valve contribute to efficiency. The size, shape and number of turbocharger turbine blades have been optimized along with the intake path, allowing the turbocharger to generate pressure over a wider and more efficient range.
In addition, the centerpiece of the car for many enthusiasts – the manual transmission – has been revised with the new model. The rev-matching system has been updated and a lighter flywheel has been fitted. The car comes standard with a limited slip differential to cope with the extra power the engine develops.
The interior is finished with bucket seats in red upholstery, a defining feature of the Civic Type R, as well as a microfiber-trimmed steering wheel and the already famous metal gear knob.
