Honor presents the best foldable smartphone according to… “Sam Sung”!

Chinese company Honor unveiled its brand new foldable smartphone “Honor Magic V3” at IFA Berlin 2024. The brand took the opportunity to mock its Korean competitor: Samsung.

For several years, Samsung has been trying to distinguish itself in the global smartphone market by popularizing the foldable mobile phone, with the launch of the Galaxy Z range. Its Chinese competitor Honor also wanted to invest in this segment by unveiling its new foldable smartphone – called “Honor Magic V3” – at IFA 2024, the famous European technology fair in Berlin.

With a thickness of 4.35mm when unfolded and 9.2mm when folded, and a weight of 226g, the Magic V3 has been recognized as the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone.

A campaign showing the opinions of people named “Sam Sung”

And to celebrate this launch and highlight the qualities of its new device, Honor has circulated in the streets of Berlin a mobile advertising billboard displaying the praise of “Sam Sung” on the phone. As you will have understood, this is not about the Korean brand but rather real people named “Sam Sung”.

Glasgow Recruiter Reviews (“Definitely tops my list of foldable phones”, “I’m amazed at how thin it is”, “By far the best foldable smartphone”) and a London graduate in biomedical sciences (“This phone is much thinner and lighter than my current phone”, “I didn’t expect it to be this light”), both named “Sam Sung”, thus make up the advertising panel of the Chinese brand. Even if the latter received compensation for this collaboration, “quotes represent their own views and opinions” et “the texts have not been modified by Honor”as she explains in a press release.

“We wanted to add a touch of fun while highlighting the Magic V3’s unique features. What better way to do that than to ask a fan named Sam Sung for their opinion? The reviews speak for themselves: the Honor Magic V3 is a true game-changer.”says Avikar Jolly, marketing director of Honor Europe, in a press release. A fun wink that should be more appreciated by Berlin passers-by than by Samsung teams…
