The agreed visa-free relationship with China will be valid from November 8 until the end of 2025, while it will be regularly extended for another year. This was stated by Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer) after the government’s meeting on Wednesday.
Together with Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), he took stock of the government’s visit to China.
“This measure applies to stays of up to 15 days in the case of tourist trips, transits, or business negotiations, it will not apply to work stays,” emphasized Blanár. He assured that his department is preparing a detailed manual for the new measure, which will be accessible on the ministry’s website.
The abolition of the visa requirement for short-term stays of up to 15 days was announced by the Prime Minister on the social network last Friday as one of the agreements with the Chinese side. He also announced that Slovakia is ready to introduce a direct air connection between Bratislava and Beijing.
A large part of the government, as well as dozens of Slovak businessmen, took part in a working trip to China at the turn of October and November. The aim was to sign 13 documents developing a strategic partnership in the economic and investment fields, but also within the tourism industry or the agricultural sector. The prime minister also met with the highest representatives of the host country.
